Happy 2009! I've been meaning to update for a while now, but really, i'm having a hard time finding the time... boo me.
Quick recap of the year so far: work, ultimate, play PS2 games with 25. Occasional snowboarding outing. Free time? What free time? ;) We still have 80% of Lego Batman to complete!
So the title of this entry comes from Rev Theory's song Hell Yeah, my current favorite pre-ultimate pump-me-up track. I had a few rough Wednesday games to start the year (so did ShamWow, my team, losing 2 games by 10+), and it's weird to actually admit this, but the fire was burning pretty low. 25 really nailed it when he asked, "er, are you having fun?"...yeah, that was obviously a problem. Last Tuesday, while at work late tying up some loose ends on a personal project, chattting with 55 on gmail, he seemed so pumped about his Wednesday game, all "we're playing the undefeated team, and they're so going down!" At that point, i really couldn't summon anything, none of the usual energy (sigh). Which led to 55 emailing me the abovementioned song, with only "Do you believe in your ability to bring the fire? Your answer better correspond to this song." in the body of the email.
I only listened to it, oh, 10 times on repeat Wednesday morning? Air guitared to it while warming up at the dome...
With that in mind and a promise to myself to have fun, darn it!, i took the field... well, it wasn't my best game, but we won, and handed the best team in the league their first loss. And darn it, i had fun. Sweeeeeet!
New year's resolution #1: always have fun while on the field. Don't become one of those grumpy players.
New year's wishes: health and happiness to all my readers (at last count, 2? 3 maybe?), may all your hucks be true and all your layouts be sweet!
And to all OC Transpo drivers/mechanics/dispatchers: you're all getting a lump of coal next year.
